Matilda book review

 

“It’s a funny thing about mothers and fathers. Even when their own child is the most disgusting little blister you could ever imagine, they still think that he or she is wonderful.”

 

This book is the total opposite, the main character is a girl called Matilda. She is really clever and extremely smart. 

At the age of one and a half her speaking was perfect, and at three years old she taught herself how to read. 

But instead of her parents loving that and applauding what she already could do, her parents called her annoying and a nerd. 

It didn’t really do much with Matilda though, she just kept on reading and teaching herself new stuff. 

 

When her dad went to work, her brother went to school and her moms went to bingo. Matilda went to the local library to read books. She did that almost every day. 

 

And because she found out her parents almost hated her. Matilda did some stuff back to her parents. 

It is really fun to read those things. Because in the book you make up a bond with Matilda, so every trick she pulls on her parents is really exciting. Even tho it is a bit wrong to put superglue in your dad’s hat, and put their pet parrot in the chimney so her parents think that there is a ghost hunting them. 

 

When Matilda went to school, she quickly became friends with Amanda Thrip. 

 

Amanda was a girl who was just as naughty as Matilda. In school they pulled tricks on the school principal, Miss Trunchbull.

 

Miss Trunchbull was a very mean woman who had the same thinking as Matilda her parents, she hated every kid in her school, so Matilda and Amanda weren’t their favorite students.

 

But Miss Honey, Matilda’s teacher, really loved Matilda. She was fascinated about her and really saw her as her own child. 

 

Matilda her whole school was a big adventure, and Roal Dahl did a great job writing that. It’s almost sad that this story did not happen in the real world. 

It would be really funny and very cool if someone like this would exist though. Roald Dahl did give me this feeling. And that is why he is one of my favorite writers ever. 

 

The drawings are really good too, they are really messy. But they gave me a really good vision of how the characters would be made. 

  

Even though this is a children book, it is really fun. And exciting at some points. 

So you should definitely read it.
