Forrest Gump review (the book)

“I was born an idiot, but I’m cleverer than most people think”.

That’s what Forrest says about himself in the very first sentence of the story in the book.

He sure is right about that. He can think things thru normally, but he has problems with saying those things out loud. Forrest doesn’t hurt people though.

He is basically like the most basic version of a human. He has no real feelings, no clue of what is going on, and he takes everything literally. He does not understand sarcasm.

But because he takes everything literally, he takes a lot of offers that might be a joke.

And because he has no real feelings, he can not decide if those offers might be good for him or not.

He plays in the high school football team without real skill, he goes to Vietnam for the war that was going on over there.

He got into the white house. He even got in contact with NASA.

A lot of these adventures were special. But Forrest did not really have a meaning on it.

That is what it makes it fun to read.

The whole book is an emotional roller coaster, but the fun thing is that Forrest doesn’t even realise that.

The book was written by Winston Groom. And the drawings are made by Winston Groom too. I think the drawings are kind of boring. But Winston Groom was not very popular before he made this book, so he did not have money to hire a real illustrator. At least that is what I am guessing.

The movie is what made this book really popular.

The movie that shares the same name as the book. Is a little bit different, like always but the movie is really fun too.

But we are here to talk about the book. If you like books about adventure it is something for you, if you like books about romance it is something for you. There is even a little bit of action involved.

And if you haven’t read it already, I hope you will
